Van Oord dredging in Surabaya

Jakarta: State owned port operator Pelindo III has awarded a contract worth $76m to Dutch company Van Oord to carry out dredging works at Tanjung Perak Port in Surabaya, East Java.

Pelindo III president director Djarwo Surjanto said the sea dredging works along the Surabaya Western Shipping Route (APBS) in Tanjung Perak Port would be carried out this month after being halted in 2000

The 19 km route will be widened to 150 m and deepened to 13 m. The project should take one year at which point vessels of up to 90,000 dwt will be able to call at the port. [07/04/14]
