Vantage Drilling jackup awarded Gabon contract by Total

US offshore driller Vantage Drilling International has been awarded a contract by Total Gabon for 2009-built jackup rig Topaz Driller for operations off Gabon.

The contract length is estimated at around nine months and includes additional options.

Ihab Toma, the chief executive officer of Vantage, commented, “We are very pleased to announce this contract with Total for the Topaz Driller in Gabon. This contract will provide continuity for the Topaz in West Africa, and further justifies our mobilization of the Topaz Driller from Asia to the region. The Topaz continues to prove that Vantage is a leader in safety and operational performance. We look forward to continuing to work for our esteemed client, Total.”

Topaz Driller had been stacked at the start of the year, and in January won a 150-day drilling contract off Cameroon.
