VBMS awarded cable-laying contract by Dong

VBMS, a subsea cable installation specialist, has announced that it has been awarded a contract by Dong Energy for the installation of 87 inter-array cables for the Walney Extension offshore wind farm.

The total scope of work for VBMS will consist of route engineering, a pre-lay grapnel run, cable transport, cable installation & trenching. The project will be executed by VBMS’ in-house owned and operated cable-laying vessels and trenching tools.

Earlier this month Boskalis signed a letter of intent with its joint venture partner VolkerWessels to acquire its offshore assets including a 50% share in VBMS, meaning Boskalis will gain full control of VBMS upon completion of the deal.
