Vietnam shippers lash out at surcharges
Hanoi: The Vietnam Shippers’ Council has hit out at foreign containerlines slapping “irrational” surcharges on shipments.
Khuat Van Lieu of the Vietnam Shippers’ Council held a meeting recently with the Ministry of Transport, shipping firms and port authorities in which he said foreign lines have capitalised on the country's underdeveloped transportation industry by imposing a slew of over-the-top surcharges. Countries like Sri Lanka have successfully implemented limits on foreign shipping operators and their surcharges, he noted. [15/08/14]
