Vietnam’s HTK Shipping eying supramaxes


A week since Vietnam’s fastest growing owner has added its first open hatch handysize vessel, HTK Shipping has raised its requirements, and is now looking to buy supramaxes, sources tell Splash.

Last week it laid down $11.5m for the 37,400 dwt Sea Bronze (built 2007),  its biggest and most expensive ship to date.This ship was the seventh handysize  bulker bought by the 16-year-old Haiphong-headquartered  player since 2015. It is now actively scouting supramaxes, brokers report.

HTK Shipping is a diverse company not only involved in shipowning. It also manages its ships, and is involved in brokerage, coal trading  and more besides.
