Viken swoops for MR trio

Bergen-based Viken Shipping has added three product tankers built between 2009 and 2010. The Orinoco Star, Yukon Star and Zambezi Star are all South Korean-built,37,900 dwt MR1s previously owned by Germany’s Rigel Schiffahrts. Online pricing portal VesselsValue lists the en bloc price for the three ships as $47m.

Last week Splash reported that Bremen-based Rigel had been bought out by Hamburg’s Chemikalien Seetransport (CST).

The latest acquisitions take the mixed tanker fleet at Viken to more than 20 ships in the water with a couple of newbuilds still to deliver.
