Viking Supply Ships sells anchor handling trio to Canada

Sweden’s Viking Supply Ships has sold three icebreaking anchor handling tug supply vessels to the Canadian government.

Tor Viking, Balder Viking and Vidar Viking have been sold, with the transaction expected to close by the end of the month.

The sale comes just weeks after the sale of platform supply vessel trio Freyja Viking, Nanna Viking and Sol Viking. The company also indicated that another anchor handler, Odin Viking, and its last two remaining PSVs are being marketed for sale leaving just four vessels, all anchor handlers, in the fleet.

Viking Supply Ships reported a first half-year loss of $40m.

“The offshore supply market was very disappointing throughout the first half year, and the very weak market has caused both fixture rates and utilization to remain on unsatisfactory levels,” the company stated.
