Vinalines corruption case snares others

Hanoi: Prosecutors have charged seven people for helping the former head of Vinalines to flee the country. Duong Chi Dung was aided by his brother, a senior police chief, in a bid to escape arrest when he was accused of corruption at the massive loss making Vietnamese shipping line. Dung was eventually arrested in Cambodia in September, having tried to escape earlier to the US via Singapore. Dung and a number of other Vinalines officials stand accused of embezzling around $17m.  [11/11/13]
