Vitol takes TMS Cardiff Gas newbuild LNG carrier on long-term charter

TMS Cardiff Gas has entered into a 10-year time charter contract with Vitol for one of its newbuild LNG carriers currently under construction at Hyundai Heavy Industries.

The 174,000 cu m vessel, one of 11 newbuilds currently under construction in South Korea, is due for delivery in 2020.

TMS Cardiff Gas has now secured term employment for ten of the eleven newbuilds, with Shell taking four, Total one, and four fixed to an unnamed major.

Christos Economou, founder of TMS Cardiff Gas, commented: “We are delighted to bring onboard our new long-term business customer which is a first time term customer for TMS Cardiff Gas. We are grateful for the trust Vitol have placed in us as their shipping provider of choice for the safe and reliable delivery of LNG to their customers.”

TMS Cardiff Gas says it is keen to further expand in the sector, and has capacity available via additional options for vessels scheduled for delivery in 2021.
