Vroon sells MPI Offshore to Van Oord

Dutch offshore service provider Vroon has agreed to sell subsidiary MPI Offshore to Van Oord.

Van Oord will take over the MPI organisation in Stokesley, UK, as well as two offshore installation vessels, MPI Adventure and MPI Resolution, with their crew and associated contracts.

Luxembourg-headquartered Jan De Nul has also stepped in, acquiring crane vessel MPI Discovery together with its crew, as well as a number of MPI’s employees.

Van Oord said the transaction will further strengthen its wind organisation in the UK market.

“The acquisition is fully in line with our ambitions and investment programme for the coming years. Offshore wind will play an important role in the energy transition. By acquiring the MPI Adventure and MPI Resolution and the addition of qualified personnel, our position in the offshore wind industry will be further strengthened,” said Pieter van Oord, CEO of Van Oord.

Vroon has been selling off some of its assets since reaching an agreement with its lenders for a financial restructuring in April.
