W Marine snaps up KBS kamsarmax

Greek dry bulk owner W Marine looks set to increase its fleet into double figures with the acquisition of a secondhand kamsarmax.

Broking sources tell Splash that W Marine has picked up 2012-built kamsarmax Tenten from Kairis Brothers company KBS for $18m. MSI values the ship at $20.9m, and expects the value could rise as high as $22.8m in future.

Founded by Yiannis Sarantitis in 2003, W Marine currently has a fleet of nine vessels made up of kamsarmaxes and post-panamaxes. It also has two kamsarmaxes on order at China’s Taizhou Kouan Shipbuilding.
