W Marine takes its ninth bulk carrier from Marwave

Athens-based W Marine is reported on the market as the buyer of modern (2011-built) post-panamax bulk carrier Talia for $17.2m.

Silvia Zacchello, head of Dutch company Marwave Shipmanagement, confirmed to Splash that the vessel, which is commercially operated by Marwave and technically by Ishima, has been sold to Greek buyers for  $17.2m.

Zacchello told Splash that the market upturn in dry bulk made it possible for the owner to obtain an “interesting sale price”.

Zacchello added that Marwave Shipmanagement is being progressively focused on managing tankers, a business segment it expects to improve in the future.

As for the buyer, W Marine was founded in 2003 by Yiannis Sarantitis and today controls a fleet of eight bulkers, made up of three panamaxes and five post-panamaxes.
