Wallem expanding in Hamburg

Hong Kong: The Wallem Group is set to open a bigger office in Hamburg as it takes over its German partner next January, group managing director Simon Doughty revealed to SinoShip News.

Changes in German regulations are set to make the country far more open to international shipmanagers in the coming months.

Elsewhere, Wallem is looking at adding a broking team to its fast expanding office in Singapore.

Doughty said Singapore was a “very competitive” place for shipmanagers, but a lot of the managers in the Lion Republic are “very small”, he said. “We have the resources to make an impact there,” he said.

In April this year, Wallem established a new shipmanagement operation in Singapore to complement its long standing ship agency business and the recently formed NW Ship Management company, doubling the size of Wallem's business in Singapore this year.

Wallem has had a presence in Singapore for more than 50 years as a leading ship agency and logistics company. In 2012 NW Ship Management was launched, a joint venture to manage the Nanjing Tanker Corporation fleet.

The Wallem managed fleet stands at just over 400 ships.  [09/10/13]
