Shanghai: Kevin Bourque, former head of legal of DVB Bank shipping division, has joined Wikborg Rein and will be located at the firm’s Shanghai office as part of the shipping, offshore and banking groups.
Bourque’s main area of practice is shipping finance.Bourque was the architect of the DVB’s vessel warehousing structure and was the protector of its in-house shipping asset holding trust, the Maple Leaf Trust.
Commenting on recent news that China is draining $8bn from the money markets and speculation on tightening liquidity Bourque said: “It is not anticipated that there that there will be a major direct impact on the availability of finance in the shipping and offshore sector. The measures seem to be targeting shadow banking and China needs growth in the right sectors to keep the economy going. Shipping and offshore are key sectors.” [21/02/14]
