Winning adds another cape

Winning Shipping’s extraordinary expansion continues briskly into 2017. One of the top five dry bulk buyers in 2016, the Singapore-based Chinese owner is now linked to another bargain Japanese capesize. Brokers report Winning has snapped up the 2002-built Portage from Cargill for just $8.5m.

Last month the company bought en bloc a brace of younger capes belonging to South Korea’s Dong-A Tanker for $44.6m.
