Dalian: Wuhan Yangluo Port has launched a new trial container shipping route to ASEAN countries Thailand, Cambodia, Vietnam and Laos starting July 21. The route will link Wuhan Yangluo Port with Shanghai Waigaoqiao Port, Bangkok Port , Ho Chi Minh Port and Port of Sihanoukville.
Trade between ASEAN countries and Wuhan has experienced a considerable growth in recent years, with ASEAN now the second largest trade partner of Wuhan. Export volumes from Wuhan to Vietnam have surged from $1.72m in 2001 to around $400m in 2013. Trade between China and Thailand has also maintained a steady growth, with trade volume over $300m in 2013.
The route will be operated twice a week by Cosco International Freight Co. According to an official from the company, the service will shorten the shipping times to Thailand and Vietnam by six days and four days respectively. [22/07/14]
