Wuhan New port seeks direct links to international ports

Shanghai: Wuhan New port, a major port on the Yangtze river, is targeting direct connections to international ports such as Tokyo, Seoul, Singapore and Jakarta.
The port is planning to upgrade and expand the channels to give the port the ability to operate direct routes for 10,000 ton class ships with a range of 3,000 kilometres to become a key connection hub for central China and overseas ports.
In recent years investments at Wuhan new port have reached RMB60.3bn, including projects for port and shipping infrastructure facilities and logistics. Last year, cargo throughput of Wuhan new port increased 15%.[17/10/12]
