X-Press Feeders boxship runs aground in Rotterdam

A 868 teu containership owned by Singapore’s X-Press Feeders ran aground in Rotterdam yesterday morning around 7:30am local time.

The X-Press Etna grounded shortly after leaving Rotterdam port due to an engine failure. It grounded at Pernis, attracting a sizeable crowd despite poor weather.

Rotterdam Port Authority was called in, sending tugs to refloat the ship just after 1pm. There was no contamination from the incident and the vessel was taken to nearby Frisohaven for inspections.

As of Monday morning, the vessel has yet to depart for its destination of St. Petersburg.
