Yangtze Fortune abandonment saga comes to an end

The saga of the abandoned Yangtze Fortune, a 2005-built livestock carrier, has come to a close with the ship auctioned, and the last 16 crew repatriated.

More than 30 Filipino seafarers onboard the Liberian flagged converted boxship, owned by a Chinese company based in Dalian, were owed many months in back wages when it was arrested at the port of Portland in September last year. The condition of the vessel was very poor, with cracks in the hull.

The ship, under new ownership, is now headed to China for repairs.
