Yangzijiang Shipbuilding to run Jiangzhou Union Shipbuilding

China Ocean Industry Group has entered into a strategic cooperation agreement with the government of Ruichang City in Jiangxi and Yangzijiang Shipbuilding to collaborate on the future development of the group’s subsidiary yard Jiangzhou Union Shipbuilding, where operations had been suspended due to financial difficulties.

Under the agreement, Yangzijiang Shipbuilding will be responsible for managing Jiangzhou Union Shipbuilding and restoring normal production and operation levels at the yard.

Additionally, the parties will set up a joint venture company to participate in the open tender for a limestone mine in Ruichang City, and Jiangzhou Union Shipbuilding will transform its outfitting pier into a public pier, which will be used for transportation of sandstone manufactured and produced by the joint venture.

China Ocean Industry said it has been seeking for opportunities to integrate Jiangzhou Union Shipbuilding in the past few years and the latest agreement offers an opportunity to revitalize the business of the yard.
