Yemen forced to import gas as domestic strife cuts supplies

Doha: Political instability is forcing Yemen to import LNG via Aden. The country is the world’s 16th largest seller of LNG, however tribal unrest has caused huge disruption to local supplies.

Mohammed Busani, director general of technical affairs at the Yemen Company for Gas explained in a statement that the shortage has become acute and the country is now setting about importing the fuel from overseas, with the first shipment due at the end of this week.  [22/05/13]
