Zamboanga port expansion progresses

Manila: The P200m expansion of Zamboanga port should be nearly over by May next year, according to the Philippine Ports Authority (PPA). Quay lengths at the southern Philippine port will total 1.6 km once complete. What will still need to be completed after May is some dredging to welcome larger ships at the port. Dredging will deepen the port to 11 m alongside. Zamboanga is trying to position itself as a hub for trade with neighbouring Indonesia and Malaysia. [11/12/13]
