Zeaborn buys CPO Tankers

Bremen’s shipping consolidator Zeaborn has made its next big acquisition, moving into the tanker segment by buying out Claus-Peter Offen Tankschiffreederei (CPO Tankers), the tanker management subsidiary of Offen Group. No price has been revealed for this latest transaction by fast growing Zeaborn, a company that has taken on many blue chip German brands since its founding just six years ago to become one of the largest shipowners in the country.

“With the takeover of CPO Tankers, Zeaborn stays on track concerning its strategy to further consolidate the shipping industry and expanding its services as an integrated and globally active shipping company,” the company stated in a release.

For Offen Group the divestment is part of plans to focus solely on post-panamax container vessels.

“We, as Offen Group, want to grow our leading position as owner/manager of post-panmax container vessels through significant investments in this sector. Pure shipmanagement services in tank or bulk are no longer in our focus,” Claus-Peter Offen commented.
