Zengzhou Shipbuilding to hire more staff

Shanghai: In a rare twist for Chinese shipbuilding, a yard is actually hiring more staff. Zhejiang Zengzhou Shipbuilding is looking to hire staff in order to meet recent newbuild orders. The shipyard plans to recruit staff for more than 30 different positions.

“We have received a number of orders this year which have made the shipyard run at full capacity, and we are also short of workers,” said an official from the company.

Zengzhou Shipbuilding has secured shipbuilding contracts from US company Marine Capital for the construction of five 33,200dwt handysize bulkers in August.

Zengzhou Shipbuilding was established in 2008. According to the official, the shipyard has just started to revive from this year, as it barely received any new orders for the past few years, and it had to build fishing ships to survive. [05/09/14]
