Zodiac Maritime continues bulker spree

Oslo: Sources tell Splash that Zodiac Maritime has snapped up the 175,600-dwt C Prosperity for $25m.

Online pricing platform VesselsValue.com says the market value for the 2011-built ship is $26.74m. The seller of the capesize is listed as China Merchants.

Zodiac Maritime is also linked with two of three capesize bulk carriers just sold by Scorpio Bulkers. Zodiac Maritime, owned by shipping magnate Eyal Ofer, has taken the SBI Corona and her sister vessel, SBI Diadema, while Korea’s Sinokor has taken the SBI Estupendo, all being built at Shanghai Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding, according to brokers.

The ships are due for delivery in the first and second quarter of 2016 and are reportedly fetching $41m each.

With the two new capes in its fleet, Zodiac has 13 capesize vessels and 11 VLOCs.
