Zodiac takes another newcastlemax

A trio of vintage Universal-built newcastlemaxes starting with the Azul suffix have been attracting plenty of attention in the secondhand market in recent months.

A third sister ship has just been sold in quick succession with Zodiac Maritime paying $15.8m for the 14-year-old bulker Azul Fortuna. Zodiac beat out four other companies for the ship, which has a drydocking due in July next year.

A month ago the one year older Azul Integra was sold for $15.6m to Hong Kong’s Xin Yuan Enterprises while the sister Azul Challenge was sold for $16.8m in September, also to Zodiac Maritime, after a lengthy bidding process.
