ZPMC inks offshore windpower installation contract

Shanghai: Shanghai Zhenhua Heavy Industry (ZPMC) has announced that subsidiary Jiangsu Longyuan Zhenhua Offshore Engineering has won a bid to install offshore windpower equipment for China General Nuclear Power Group (CGN), a state-run clean energy group.

Longyuan Zhenhua Offshore Engineering is a joint venture between ZPMC and Jiangsu Longyuan Power Group and is dedicated to offshore windpower engineering. The company will install 38 sets of Siemens wind power turbines offshore Rudong, Jiangsu for CGN. The project will take about nine months and total value of the contract is RMB160m ($25.6m).

ZPMC has been expanding its presence in the offshore windpower market the past two years. ZPMC Profundo Wind Energy, a joint venture between Zhenhua Shipping and Shenzhen-based Profundo Offshore Contractor, signed a five-year bareboat charter with Offshore Logistics Company in December 2014 to charter offshore construction vessel Friedrich Ernestine.
