Marine seismic specialist SeaBird Exploration has agreed to extend a firm duration of a contract for the vessel Eagle Explorer.
SeaBird penned a letter of award with an unnamed repeat client for a 2D survey in the Western Hemisphere and secured a contract for the vessel back in May.
At the time, the Oslo-listed company said the contract would last about six months, with two options to extend by another 12 months in total.
SeaBird and the client have now agreed to extend the contract for the vessel to 12 months firm while the two extensions of six months each, will remain in place. The vessel is currently mobilising and is expected to begin the contract by the end of June.
With this latest award, the company’s firm backlog has increased to 26 months, or 38 if all options are included. The Fulmar Explorer has firm commitments until September 2025 while the Eagle Explorer is busy until July 2025.
