Atlas Maritime bolsters suezmax tanker orderbook in South Korea

Greece’s Atlas Maritime has added to its orderbook of suezmax tankers in South Korea.

The Leon Patitsas-led company has returned to DH Shipbuilding for two more 158,000 dwt ships, after booking four scrubber-fitted units earlier this year.

The first four ships came at around $84m each with delivery in 2025 and 2026. Financial terms and delivery dates of the latest order have not been revealed. Shipbroker Allied noted “it is unclear whether these are fresh orders or declared options”.

Atlas marked its move into the larger tanker segment in July after previously ordering aframaxes at the same shipyard. DH Shipbuilding, formerly Daehan Shipbuilding, has four more LR2 115,000 dwt units to deliver to Atlas between 2024 and 2025. Shipbuilding sources show the company also has car carriers booked at Yantai Raffles.
