CSBC and DEME joint venture gets new chief executive

CSBC-DEME Wind Engineering (CDWE), a joint venture between Taiwanese shipbuilder CSBC Corporation and DEME Offshore from Belgium, has chosen a new chief executive officer.

The company said via its social media channels that it picked Javier Magro as its new chief executive officer. He will be replacing the company’s current CEO Marco Kanaar who will join the board of directors

Magro has been working for the DEME Group for almost 11 years and was the business unit director for DEME in Taiwan before taking on the CDWE CEO role. Before joining DEME he worked in several roles with Spanish company Acciona.

During his career at DEME, Magro was mostly focused on offshore wind and was involved in several offshore wind tenders and projects such as Borkum Riffgrund 2 in Germany, the Galloper Project in the UK as well as Hohe See and Albatros. Magro has been based in Taiwan since 2017. During that time he was involved in setting up the CDWE joint venture.

CDWE also elected Steven Lin as its new vice CEO. The current vice CEO, Kurt Guo, will remain with the company as a senior advisor.

“Both Javier and Steven have been working extensively within the company and possess deep knowledge of the offshore wind industry. Under their leadership, we are confident that CDWE will continue to thrive, achieve new heights, and consolidate the rapid growth the company has experienced over the past years,” the company said on LinkedIn.
