Eastern Pacific orders ammonia carriers at Jiangnan

Idan Ofer’s  Eastern Pacific Shipping has signed for four very large ammonia carriers (VLACs) at China’s Jiangnan Shipbuilding.

The 93,000 cu m ships are the first VLACs ordered in China. The 230 m long LPG dual-fuelled ships can transport ammonia, as well as liquefied petroleum gases including propane and butane.

The latest orders add to Jiagnan’s leading position in the construction of very large gas carriers (VLGCs), with the yard holding a quarter of the global market share for this ship type.
