Gilbert Walter takes over from François Cadiou as chair of BRS

François Cadiou, 65, has stepped down as chairman of broker BRS to be replaced by the company’s CEO, Gilbert Walter. 

Walter was a seafarer for 14 years before joining BRS in 1997. He became the group’s CEO two years ago. 

Cadiou, meanwhile, has been with BRS for the past 34 years, taking the chairman role four years ago when Tim Jones left the company. Cadiou (pictured) will continue to hold positions within the group including his role as a newbuilding broker. 

Sam Chambers

Starting out with the Informa Group in 2000 in Hong Kong, Sam Chambers became editor of Maritime Asia magazine as well as East Asia Editor for the world’s oldest newspaper, Lloyd’s List. In 2005 he pursued a freelance career and wrote for a variety of titles including taking on the role of Asia Editor at Seatrade magazine and China correspondent for Supply Chain Asia. His work has also appeared in The Economist, The New York Times, The Sunday Times and The International Herald Tribune.
