Japanese sub hits cape while surfacing

A submarine from Japan’s Maritime Self-Defense Force collided with a Hong Kong-flagged capesize yesterday, slightly injuring three on the sub.

The accident occurred off southwestern Japan as the sub was surfacing.

The collision damaged the sub’s communication equipment and its scope while the bulk carrier, Ocean Artemis, was not damaged.
