Key Responsibilities
- Negotiations and fixing of charter parties. Secure and charter-out vessels under competitive terms and freight costs.
- Analyse voyage P&L from the commencement of the voyage through to completion and ensure freight and demurrage are invoiced correctly and received in a timely manner.
- Liaise with brokers with regards to freight market views/fixture, cargo lines-up and prospects.
- Monitor and analyse shipping market trend relating to ship owning, chartering and freight levels.
- Develop and maintain relationships with clients.
- Liaise with the operations team and technical managers to ensure clear instructions and vessels’ operational and economical performance are optimised.
- Follow up with the Operations team from time to time for outstanding accounts/disputes.
- Handle and report various aspects of chartering activities.
- Any ad-hoc duties as and when assigned.
Requirements:
- Degree and/or Diploma in Maritime Studies or similar disciplines.
- Min 2-4 years of Shipping and/or tanker chartering experience (tanker experience preferred).
- Results-oriented and performance-driven.
- Strong network of contacts within the chartering industry, including cargo owners, shipbrokers, and other stakeholders.
- Excellent negotiation skills and the ability to make informed decisions under uncertainty.
- Analytical mindset with the ability to assess market trends and risks effectively.
- Comfortable with taking calculated risks to maximize business opportunities.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
- Understanding of international maritime regulations and commercial shipping practices.
