Description
As the Lead Electrical & Instrumentation (E&I) Designer, you will be responsible for overseeing the design and implementation of electrical and instrumentation systems for offshore marine projects. Leading a team of E&I designers, you will ensure the development of detailed designs, specifications, and documentation while adhering to industry standards, safety regulations, and project requirements. This role requires strong technical expertise in offshore E&I design, project management skills, and the ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams in a dynamic marine environment.
Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage a team of electrical and instrumentation designers in the development of offshore marine E&I designs, including power distribution, control systems, instrumentation, and safety systems.
- Review project specifications, engineering drawings, and technical documents to ensure accuracy and compliance with industry standards, codes, and regulations.
- Develop detailed electrical and instrumentation drawings, schematics, and wiring diagrams using CAD software, ensuring alignment with project requirements and client expectations.
- Coordinate with other engineering disciplines, such as mechanical, structural, and piping, to integrate E&I systems into marine facility designs.
- Conduct feasibility studies and risk assessments to optimize E&I designs, considering factors such as equipment specifications, operational requirements, and safety standards.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior E&I designers and engineers, fostering their professional development and ensuring the quality of deliverables.
- Liaise with clients, contractors, and vendors to clarify design requirements, resolve technical issues, and ensure alignment with project objectives and timelines.
- Participate in project meetings, design reviews, and site inspections to communicate progress, identify challenges, and propose solutions to project stakeholders.
- Collaborate with procurement and supply chain teams to source E&I materials, equipment, and components, ensuring timely delivery and compliance with project specifications.
- Ensure adherence to company policies, industry regulations, and safety standards in all aspects of E&I design and project execution.
Qualifications:
- Diploma in electrical engineering, Instrumentation Engineering, or related field; advanced degree preferred.
- At least 10 years of experience in managing large-scale EPC for FPSO/FLNG projects.
- Minimum of 15 years of experience in electrical and instrumentation designing, with at least 5 years in team lead capacity.
- Proficiency in electrical design software such as AutoCAD Electrical, ETAP, SKM PowerTools, or similar tools, with specific experience in offshore applications preferred.
- Strong knowledge of offshore industry standards and regulations, including API, IEC, IEEE, and ABS rules for the classification of marine vessels and structures.
- Experience with electrical power distribution, control systems, instrumentation, and automation technologies used in offshore environments.
- Excellent project management skills, including planning, scheduling, and resource allocation, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills to interact with clients, stakeholders, and project teams, both internally and externally.
- Detail-oriented approach with a commitment to quality, accuracy, and compliance in all aspects of E&I design.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, adapting to changing priorities and project requirements.
- Strong leadership abilities, with the capability to motivate teams, foster collaboration, and drive continuous improvement in E&I design processes and practices.
