Description

As a Lead Piping Designer, you will play a pivotal role in the design and implementation of piping systems for offshore marine projects. You will lead a team of piping designers, overseeing the development of detailed piping layouts, isometrics, and fabrication drawings, while ensuring compliance with industry standards, safety regulations, and project specifications. This position requires strong technical expertise in offshore piping design, project management skills, and the ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams in a dynamic marine environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage a team of piping designers in the development of offshore marine piping designs, including layout, routing, and material selection.
  • Review project specifications, engineering drawings, and technical documents to ensure accuracy and compliance with industry standards, codes, and regulations.
  • Develop detailed piping plans, isometric drawings, and fabrication drawings using CAD software, ensuring alignment with project requirements and client expectations.
  • Coordinate with other engineering disciplines, such as structural, mechanical, and electrical, to integrate piping systems into overall marine facility designs.
  • Conduct feasibility studies and risk assessments to optimize piping layouts, considering factors such as space constraints, equipment placement, and safety requirements.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior piping designers and engineers, fostering their professional development and ensuring the quality of deliverables.
  • Liaise with clients, contractors, and vendors to clarify design requirements, resolve technical issues, and ensure alignment with project objectives and timelines.
  • Participate in project meetings, design reviews, and site inspections to communicate progress, identify challenges, and propose solutions to project stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with procurement and supply chain teams to source piping materials, equipment, and components, ensuring timely delivery and compliance with project specifications.
  • Ensure adherence to company policies, industry regulations, and safety standards in all aspects of piping design and project execution.

Qualifications:

  • Diploma in mechanical engineering or related field; advanced degree preferred.
  • Experience in detailed engineering works for offshore exploration is mandatory.
  • At least 10 years of experience in managing large-scale EPC for FPSO/FLNG or other related projects.
  • Minimum of 15 years of experience in piping engineering and design, with at least 5 years in team lead capacity.
  • Proficiency in piping design software such as AutoCAD, CADWorx, PDMS, or similar tools, with specific experience in offshore applications preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of offshore industry standards and regulations, including API, ASME, DNVGL, and ABS rules for the classification of marine vessels and structures.
  • Experience with piping materials, fabrication techniques, and installation methods used in offshore environments, including corrosion protection and insulation requirements.
  • Excellent project management skills, including planning, scheduling, and resource allocation, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills to interact with clients, stakeholders, and project teams, both internally and externally.
  • Detail-oriented approach with a commitment to quality, accuracy, and compliance in all aspects of piping design and engineering.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, adapting to changing priorities and project requirements.
  • Strong leadership abilities, with the capability to motivate teams, foster collaboration, and drive continuous improvement in piping design processes and practices.
