Job Summary for Marine Mechanic:

Our client is seeking a highly skilled marine mechanic to join their team. The successful candidate will be responsible for performing a wide range of repair and maintenance tasks on sailboats and other vessels, including rigging inspections and repairs, fiberglass repairs, engine maintenance, electrical work, and more. The ideal candidate will be knowledgeable, experienced, and passionate about the marine industry.

Responsibilities for Marine Mechanic:

• Troubleshoot and repair boat engines, electrical systems, and other mechanical components
• Repair and maintain fiberglass hulls, decks, and components
• Conduct general maintenance tasks such as oil changes, filter replacements, and fluid checks
• Keep accurate records of work performed and materials used
• Communicate with clients to provide updates on repairs and maintenance progress
• Operate and maintain tools and equipment used in marine repair and maintenance
• Ensure that all work is performed to high-quality standards and in compliance with safety regulations

Qualifications for Marine Mechanic:

• At least 5 years of experience working as a marine mechanic
• Specific experience in sailboat rigging and fiberglass repair is a plus
• Strong knowledge of boat systems and components, including engines, electrical systems, and rigging
• Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and blueprints
• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
• Strong communication and customer service skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays
• Ability to lift heavy equipment and work in outdoor environments

Education and Certifications for Marine Mechanic:

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Completion of a trade school program in marine mechanics or equivalent experience
• Relevant certifications in marine mechanics, sailboat rigging, and/or fiberglass repair are preferred but not required
