Faststream has once again partnered exclusively with a globally recognised ship repair yard in the Bahamas in their Search for a Mechanical Manager

The Mechanical Manager will play a pivotal role in ensuring the overall efficiency and successful delivery of the mechanical department's objectives. You will oversee technical, commercial, and production control aspects, driving the team to uphold the highest standards in ship repair.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Labour Management & Budget Control: Efficiently manage resources and budgets for optimal outcomes.
  • Labour Resource Planning: Strategically plan labour resources for upcoming contracts.
  • Plant & Equipment Management: Oversee the maintenance and usage of machinery and equipment.
  • Material Management: Ensure effective procurement and utilisation of materials.
  • Workshop Supervision: Manage mechanical and machining workshops efficiently.
  • On-board & Dock Repairs: Supervise and execute repair projects both on board and in dock settings.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Alignment with Company Values: Share and champion the company's core values.
  • Engineering Background: Internationally recognised marine mechanical qualification is essential.
  • Marine Mechanical Expertise: Strong technical knowledge of marine mechanical systems.
  • Industry Experience: Preferably experienced with Cruise ships and LNG tanker repairs.
  • Management Experience: Minimum 10 years in ship repair, 5 years in managerial roles overseeing 50+ staff.
  • Resource Planning & Budget Control: Proficiency in production/resource planning and budget/cost control.
  • Problem-solving skills: Aptitude in resolving issues within a marine engineering environment.
  • Leadership & Communication: Strong leadership and interpersonal skills to motivate and guide teams.
  • Adherence to Policies: Strict adherence to company policies and procedures.
  • Computer Literacy: Proficient in relevant computer applications for efficient management.
