Role:
You will be responsible for developing the client's vessel concepts, obtaining Approval In Principle and ultimately, Class certification. The ideal candidate will have a strong academic background and experience designing commercial and/or defence vessels.

  • Author work specifications for the procurement of technical services and manage contract execution.
  • Support safety assessment as a subject matter expert in the area of marine vessel design.
  • Liaise with stakeholders; system designers, classification societies, regulators and potential customers to manage evolving requirements.
  • Support client's market development efforts.

Requirements:

Essential -

  • Masters in Naval Architecture or Marine Engineering is required.
  • 8+ years of direct experience working in ship and/or offshore infrastructure design is required.
  • Ability to manage design projects against evolving design requirements.
  • Supporting the tendering process and overseeing the execution of contracts against contractual requirements.
  • Good understanding of hydrodynamics, marine structures and marine safety
  • Good understanding of propulsion technologies and marine machinery.
  • Proven leader with a track record of continuous improvement and project execution.

Desired - 

  • Chartered Member of a relevant Professional Institution
  • Able to manage designs against evolving requirements. This includes the configuration and management of variations to design models and drawings.
  • Comfortable with Computer Aided Design (CAD), particularly, software related to stability calculations, structural analysis, wave loading and dynamic behaviour of offshore structures.
  • Good understanding of risk management in design and design development methods.
  • Excellent project management and organisational skills.
  • Critical thinking skills and ability to handle uncertainties.
  • Thrives in a creative environment but possesses the pragmatism and awareness to maintain progress.
  • Genuine intellectual curiosity.
  • The right to work and Live in the UK.
  • Able to commute to London.
