Position Overview:

They are seeking a dynamic and sociable individual to join their team as a Recruitment & Development Manager for their inland shipping operations. This role is pivotal in identifying and nurturing new barge crew talent, and overseeing their training and development to ensure a skilled and efficient workforce.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Identify and recruit new barge crew members, focusing on Northern and Central Europe.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with relevant third-level institutes and training institutions to source quality candidates.
  • Utilise social media platforms effectively to attract and engage potential candidates, building a robust talent pipeline.
  • Represent the company at various career fairs, school events, and industry networking opportunities to promote our brand and attract talent.
  • Coordinate and manage the training and development programmes for new and existing crew members, ensuring compliance with industry standards and company protocols.
  • Collaborate with senior management to devise strategies for talent acquisition and retention.
  • Manage own schedule and development plan, with support from the senior management team.
  • Extensive travel required to meet with existing crew, attend educational institutions, and participate in industry events.

Requirements:

  • Proficiency in German and English is essential, a 3rd European language would be an advantage.
  • 7+ years in a networking role.
  • Strong interpersonal and networking skills, with a passion for social occasions and meeting new people.
  • Prior experience in business development or recruiting or promotional/marketing roles preferred.
  • Ability to work autonomously and manage own workload effectively.
  • Willingness to travel extensively across Europe for recruitment and networking purposes. Company car will be provided.
  • No previous experience in the shipping industry is required; this role is open to candidates from diverse backgrounds who possess the right skills and attitude.
