Shipyard Scheduler

  The Scheduler will prepare detailed production schedules that are fully integrated, and resource loaded.  They will update ship repair schedules for contract changes, progress and provide reports in accordance with both contract requirements and internal processes.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Review standard Work Items and associated reference drawings to establish a logical Work Breakdown Structure as part of schedule development and planning.
  •      Work with Program Managers, Project Managers, Project Team, internal trades, Subcontractors, and Government entities to fully integrate work from all parties into a single Integrated Production Schedule; tasks include properly sequencing and de-conflicting during planning and execution phases.
  •      Use Work Item estimates to resource load production schedule.
  •      Update schedule to include contract changes and progress provided by Project Team.
  •      Review new and existing data for errors and potential conflicts.  Recommends resolutions to mitigate project delays.
  •      Prepares weekly schedule status reports in accordance with standard company procedures and contract requirements.
  •      Participates in project meetings.
  •      Assists with Critical Path and Controlling Work analysis to create “what if” scenarios exploring alternate sequencing; analyzes and provides feedback to Project Team on impacts of additional work requirements in current production schedule.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE: 

  •        High School Diploma or Equivalent.
  •     Two years of experience in project planning and management.
  •     Prior experience in shipyard, industrial, or construction industry preferred.
  •     Excellent verbal, written and listening communication skills.
  •     Excellent organizational skills.  Must have the ability to self-prioritize and self-start projects and assigned work.
  •     Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  •     Strong computer skills, including the ability to use all Microsoft Products (Word, Excel, etc.) and proficiency in Primavera P6 or equivalent scheduling software with similar capabilities (MS Project, Open Plan, 3M Sked).
  • WORKING CONDITIONS

 This is an on-site position in an office environment and occasional exposure to outdoor conditions.  Duties of this job require sitting for long periods of time, occasional lifting up to 25 lbs., possible climbing, stooping, or crawling.  Must have motor coordination skills, ability to perform basic arithmetic accurately and quickly, the ability to express ideas using the spoken word and perception of speech.  Occasional exposure to noise levels requiring hearing protection.
