Technical Officer – Hamburg

We are working exclusively with a Shipowner based in Hamburg who operate a fleet of Bulk Carriers. Due to expansion, they are looking to bring in a Technical Officer to their team.

The role itself is a real mix working within both the Technical and Purchasing team. You will be assisting both the Technical Superintendents and the Purchasing Team on a day to day basis.

Requirements

• 1-2 years experience as either a Technical Assistant or in Purchasing with a willingness to learn the second part of the role,
• Team spirit, commitment as well as proactive and independent work
• Excellent knowledge of spoken and written English
• Good communication, interpersonal and organizational skills
• Good language skills (Spoken and written English, required,  German although not required would be an advantage.)

Responsibilities – Purchasing

• Process all tasks of the supply chain with best service to our fleet to keep our vessels always in operation
• Supply our vessels with all necessary goods and services cost-effectively
• Organize efficient warehousing and logistics as part of the supply-chain
• Monitoring budgets and responsibility for same
• Communication with suppliers, agents and ship masters

Responsibilities – Technical Assistant

• Providing support as required to the Superintendents
• Monitor the status of vessel trading certificates and classification certificates
• Settlement of departmental invoices
• Maintaining communications with other departments
