Prosafe in line for UK North Sea flotel work

Offshore accommodation vessel specialist Prosafe has lined up more work in the UK North Sea for one of its flotels in a potential deal worth between $26m and $37m.

The Oslo-listed owner and operator of six accommodation units and one tender support vessel has received a letter of intent from Ithaca Energy for the charter of the Safe Caledonia, starting in June 2025.

The contract, subject to meeting certain site specific technical criteria, is for six months with up to three months of options. The 1982-bult and 2012-upgraded unit will undergo its five-yearly special periodic survey and other maintenance works before the contract kicks in.

The Safe Caledonia has operated in the UKCS continuously for over 10 years and has also previously secured contracts in Mexico, Nigeria and Australia. Prosafe chief executive Terje Askvig said the vessel’s reactivation and commitment “reflects the continued tightening of the accommodation market in the North Sea and globally”.
