Saverys moves ahead with Euronav rebrand to CMB.TECH

One of the most famous names in European tanker circles is set to fade from view. Shareholders have approved plans to change the name of Euronav to CMB.TECH with the brand switch scheduled for October 1.

The decision to change names comes after a protracted takeover saga between the Saverys family, who control CMB.TECH, and John Fredriksen.

Euronav has filed a request to change its ticker from EURN to CMBT. This change will be effective as of July 15 on Euronext and in New York, while the Euronav website has been changed to cmb.tech.

The group will not entirely dispense with the famous tanker branding however. Euronav will remain the oil tanker shipping company within the group, which comprises around 150 vessels and includes dry bulkers, containerships, chemical tankers, and offshore wind vessels. The Euronav brand was created in 1995.
