SeaBird clinches contract work for survey vessel

Marine seismic specialist SeaBird Exploration has been awarded ocean bottom node (OBN) source work for the vessel Eagle Explorer in the Western Hemisphere.

penned a letter of award with an unnamed repeat client for a 2D survey in the Eastern Hemisphere and secured a contract extension for one of its vessels.

The Oslo-listed company said the contract with a repeat client will last about six months, with two options to extend by another 12 months in total.

Mobilisation has already started, and the commencement of the contract is expected in the second half of June. Financial terms have not been disclosed.

Ståle Rodahl, executive chairman at SeaBird, said the company’s backlog, including options, currently stands at 33 months of OBN source work, adding that SeaBird is also looking at several opportunities in 2D surveys and is exploring alternative ways of employing its streamer capacity.
