Shelf Drilling pens $68m jackup deal in Denmark

Oslo-listed offshore driller Shelf Drilling has secured a new contract for one of its jackup drilling rigs for work offshore Denmark.

The company won a 17-month deal for the Shelf Drilling Winner rig which will work for the Danish arm of French energy major TotalEnergies.

The contract value for the firm period is approximately $68m, and the contract also includes two seven-month options.

The planned start-up of operations is set for March 2025 in direct continuation of the rig’s current operations in Denmark, and the expected availability of the rig is now August 2026. The jackup has been working for the French company since October 2022.

Early last month, the offshore driller secured a 15-month deal for the Shelf Drilling Tenacious rig from Cabinda Gulf Oil Company, an Angolan subsidiary of US major Chevron, extending the commitment until February 2026.
