General Manager - Container Terminal,  Miami
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced General Manager to oversee the operations of our container terminal. As the General Manager, you will be responsible for the overall management and performance of the terminal, ensuring operational efficiency, safety, and profitability.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Strategic Planning: Develop and implement strategic plans to optimize terminal operations, improve productivity, and achieve financial targets.
  2. Operational Management: Oversee all aspects of terminal operations, including vessel berthing, container handling, yard operations, gate operations, and equipment maintenance. Ensure adherence to operational standards and procedures to maximize efficiency and minimize downtime.
  3. Safety and Compliance: Promote a culture of safety and compliance with regulatory requirements. Implement safety protocols and ensure all employees and contractors adhere to safety guidelines and procedures.
  4. Customer Relations: Build and maintain strong relationships with shipping lines, freight forwarders, and other stakeholders. Address customer inquiries and concerns promptly to ensure high levels of customer satisfaction.
  5. Financial Management: Develop and manage the terminal budget, monitor financial performance, and implement cost-saving initiatives. Analyze financial data and make strategic decisions to improve profitability.
  6. Team Leadership: Provide leadership and direction to terminal staff, including supervisors, operators, and administrative personnel. Foster a positive work environment and promote professional development opportunities for employees.
  7. Continuous Improvement: Identify areas for process improvement and implement initiatives to enhance operational efficiency and customer service. Stay abreast of industry trends and best practices to maintain the terminal's competitive edge.
  8. Environmental Stewardship: Ensure compliance with environmental regulations and implement initiatives to minimize the terminal's environmental impact.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Logistics, Engineering, or a related field. Master's degree preferred.
  • Proven experience in container terminal operations management a must.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and inspire a diverse team, including union and non union labor.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Sound financial acumen with experience in budget management and financial analysis.
  • Proficiency in relevant software applications, such as terminal operating systems (TOS) and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Knowledge of safety regulations and environmental standards applicable to terminal operations.
  • Ability to work under pressure and make timely decisions in a fast-paced environment.
