CDB Leasing picks up four ships from Dynagas LNG Partners

CDB Leasing has purchased four liquefied natural gas (LNG) carriers from entities linked to George Procopiou-backed Dynagas LNG Partners.

The Hong Kong-listed leasing unit of China Development Bank said it is paying up to $477.5m for the 149,700 cu m vessels Clean Energy, Ob River and Amur River, built between 2007 and 2008, and the 2013-built 155,000 cu m Arctic Aurora.

New York-listed Dynagas LNG Partners will lease back the vessels for a period between 60 and 120 months, maintaining its fleet of six LNG units.

The total amount of lease interest is expected to be around $130m, CDB Leasing said, adding that Dynagas LNG Partners has the option to purchase back the vessels for $95.5m when the leases expire.

CDB Leasing has done several LNG transactions in the past, taking three of Procopiou’s 200,000 cu m LNG newbuilds, a number of units from Peter Livanos-controlled GasLog, and most recently, two ships from Awilco LNG.
