Delta Tankers acquires Phoenix Tankers VLCC

Diamantis Diamantides’ Delta Tankers has added a third VLCC to its fleet this year, after taking over the 2007-built Phoenix Vanguard from MOL’s Phoenix Tankers.

The vessel was linked to a sale to Ghandour Ghassan and Hermes Marine Management in June, but the deal eventually fell through. It is now listed as being sold to Greek buyers, with Allied Shipbroking identifying the buyer as Delta Tankers. The DSME-built vessel has fetched a price of $41m, with MSI valuing the vessel at $41.8m.

Earlier this year, Delta Tankers acquired another two VLCCs, Brightoil Gravity and Brightoil Glory, from Brightoil Petroleum via court-led auctions. The two vessels have been renamed Delta Angelica and Delta Glory.
