Maersk debuts the FFF

The company that brought world shipping the EEE containership has now debuted the FFF.

Maersk is replacing its existing bunker fuel surcharges – the bunker adjustment factor (BAF) and the low sulphur surcharge (LSS) – with a new combined fossil fuel fee (FFF) effective from July 1.

The Danish carrier said the move was made to streamline the costs of the different fuel types mandated by regulations.

Pre-existing contracts with BAF and LSS will continue as is until the time of renewal.
